Using a Differential Pressure Transmitter to Measure Vessel Fluid Levels
Jan 13, 2025
When you are going to measure vessel fluid level, a differential pressure transmitter would be one of your choise.
As you know, level measurement can be diveded into two categories: point, and continuous. A point level transmitter is used to mark a specific single liquid height, while a continuous level transmitter is used to measure the level within a measurement range.
A differential pressure transmitter should be connected to the 0% point of the vessel, we can use it the pressure measurement to determine the level. Relative density (specific gravity) and temperature are two factors that we need to take into consideration when measuring vessel fluid levels. There is a relationship between pressure, relative density, and liquid height.
For an open vessel, the HP port of the differential pressure transmitter is connected to the 0% point of the vessel, and the LP port of it is vented to the atmosphere.
