Tank Level Measurement: Submersible Level Transmitter or Differential Pressure Transmitter?

Feb 24, 2025

When you are going to measure the level height for a tank, which sensor will you choose: a submersible level sensor or a differential pressure sensor?

Usually, submersible level sensor is used to measure the level of an open tank. The sensor can be directly input into the liquid. It is very convenient to install, has high oil measurement accuracy, and has a wide range of electrical characteristics for temperature compensation.

When using a submersible level sensor to measure the liquid level of a sealed tank, the output of the sensor is related not only to the static pressure of the liquid column, but also to the gas pressure above the liquid level.

In order to eliminate the influence of gas pressure on liquid level detection, the method of measuring differential pressure is often used to measure the liquid level for a sealed tank.

We UTOP has kinds of submersible level sensors and differential pressure transmitters for you to choose. Like our ULB6 submersible level transmitter, UIB3351 metal capacitive differential pressure transmitter etc.
