Maintenance Methods for Flanged Pressure Transmitters
Dec 24, 2025
Maintenance schedules for flanged diaphragm pressure transmitters should be tailored to the characteristics of the process medium (e.g., corrosiveness, viscosity). Core maintenance items include:
Regular Inspection (Interval: 1-3 months)
Visual Inspection: Wipe the diaphragm surface (using a soft cloth to avoid scratches), check for leaks at flange sealing surfaces, and verify cable connectors are secure.
Accuracy Calibration: Compare transmitter readings with standard values using a calibrated pressure source. If deviation exceeds tolerance limits (e.g., ±0.1% FS for Class 0.1 transmitters), recalibrate span and zero point.
Special Medium Maintenance (e.g., viscous or crystallizing media)
Regular Cleaning: Disassemble flanges every 1-2 months (after powering off). Clean diaphragms and pressure tubes with suitable solvents (e.g., water, alcohol) to remove residual media (prevent crystallization blockage or corrosion).
Diaphragm Protection: If media contains particles, install a "filter screen" (pore size <1mm) before the flange to prevent particle impact damage to the diaphragm.
After powering off, close valves upstream and downstream of the transmitter and drain the medium from the pressure tubing.
If unused for over 3 months, remove the transmitter. Clean and store it in a dry, room-temperature environment (avoid direct sunlight). Apply rust-preventive oil (for 316L material) or a specialized protective agent (for PTFE material) to the diaphragm.
Precautions (Safety and Compliance)
Safety Operations: When handling corrosive or high-temperature media, wear protective gear (safety goggles, corrosion-resistant gloves). Before disassembling flanges, confirm pipeline depressurization (to prevent media spray injuries).
Explosion-Proof Requirements: For use in flammable/explosive environments (e.g., chemical plants), select explosion-proof pressure transmitters (e.g., Ex d IIB T4 Ga). During installation, ensure explosion-proof surfaces remain undamaged and cable seals comply with explosion-proof standards.
