The working principle and function of the submersible level transmitter

Apr 01, 2025

I. Working Principle

Because the pressure inside the liquid will increase with the depth, according to the hydrostatic principle, the pressure is equal to the density multiplied by the acceleration of gravity multiplied by the height, By using level transmitter ULB6, the liquid level height can be measured by the hydrostatic pressure generated by the liquid.

II. Workflow

1. Pressure sensing: the sensing element (usually is piezoresistive silicon) of the level transmitter is put into the bottom of the liquid or fixed

position to directly feel the static pressure of the liquid.

2. Signal conversion: the sensor converts the pressure signal into an electrical signal (e.g. voltage or current change).

3. data processing: the signal of the level transmitter ULB16 will be amplified and converted to standard output signals (such as 4-20mA, RS485, etc.).

4. Liquid level calculation: inverse the liquid level height through the formula, and display or transfer to the control system.

III. Core role

1. real-time monitoring of liquid level: accurate measurement of liquid height in containers, pipelines or natural water bodies.

2. automation control: linkage with pumps, valves and other equipment to realize automatic liquid level adjustment (e.g. to prevent overflow or dry pumping).

IV. Typical application fields

- Industrial field: chemical storage tanks, petroleum storage and transportation, sewage treatment.

- Water conservation and environmental protection: water level monitoring of reservoirs and rivers, rainwater collection system.

- Agricultural irrigation: water level control of water tower, cistern .

- Food and medicine: aseptic tank level management.
