Common Thermowell Types

Thermowell is an important part in all temperature measurement applications. It can isolate the measurement process from the surrounding environment. It can not only protect the environment and workers, but also isolate the aggressive, high-pressure, and high-flow media from the thermometer and temperature sensor body , so that the user can replace the thermometer without stopping the factory.

Thermowell is available in a variety of designs and materials to meet all application requirements. When choosing a thermowell, users need to pay attention to two important considerations, one is the type of process interface, and the other is the basic manufacturing method.

Usually, we mainly divide the thermowell into three types as following: threaded type, welded type, and flanged type.

In addition, the thermowell can also be divided into two types: assembly type and integral type. Assembled thermowells are made of tubing and the ends are welded closed with a solid bottom part. Integral thermowells are machined from solid forged bars.
