Tips to Select a Suitable Instrument

May 31, 2022

To select a suitable instrument, you need to determine the measuring range and choose the accuracy.

A. Determination of the measuring range

In order to ensure the measurement accuracy, the minimum value of the measured pressure is generally not lower than 1/3 of the full scale of the instrument. At the same time, in order to prolong the service life of the elastic element and avoid permanent deformation of the elastic element due to excessive long-term stress, the upper limit of the pressure gauge should be higher than the maximum value to be measured (1/2~1/3 of the range).

B. Selection of instrument accuracy

The accuracy of the instrument is determined according to the maximum measurement error allowed in your specific application condition. The accuracy is not the higher the better. Under the premise of meeting the application requirements, the instrument with lower precision, low price and durability should be selected as much as possible.

Take pressure transmitter for example, if the maximum measurement error allowed for your application is 1bar, with the pressure range 0~300bar, the required accuracy=1/300*100%=0.33%, so you can choose our UPB1 pressure transmitter with accuracy 0.25%.
